6 gauge·W2.9
Slabs on grade, driveways, garage floors, topping slabs
Flat 8 × 20 ft sheets of welded wire mesh, 6 × 6 in spacing, for reinforcing concrete. Flat sheets lie straight on chairs, which makes it easier to hold the mesh at the right height than with rolled mesh.

Heavier slabs, where drawings call for more steel area

Steel area is the number engineers design with. A 4 gauge sheet carries about 38% more steel each way than 6 gauge, and 6 gauge carries roughly twice the steel of 10 gauge. See welded wire mesh sizes.
Sizes, weights and steel areas are nominal. Follow your drawings and your engineer for design values.
Follow the drawings. If there are none, as on many driveways and garage floors, read 4 vs 6 vs 10 gauge before you order, and check whether your slab needs mesh at all.
